Something easy and yummy for a tuesday night!

I have really been slacking on my cooking. It has been a little harder for me to cook real meals that are healthy and yummy lately. I came upon this chicken wing recipe that was super delicious! I added my own fried rice recipe and put a twist on the chicken. I also add it with this yummy sweet sauce. I hope you enjoy, I know I did!

For the Chicken (you can use any chicken part, I used chicken drumlettes)
  • 1 1/2 Cups of hot sauce ( I used red hot)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
  • 3/4 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 Cup of brown sugar (enough to rub evenly on chicken, it doesn't have to be tons)
Combine the hot sauce, cayenne and garlic powder in a large bowl and mix well. Add the wings and toss. Cover and refrigerate no less than 30min. The longer the better.

Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep fryer or deep-sided pot. Remove the wings from the marinade and drain off excess moisture. Carefully add the wings to the hot oil in batches (the oil may splatter) and cook until crisp, about 10 minutes. (YES, they do get really crispy)

For the Sauce
  • 1 stick of salted butter microwave for 50 sec
  • 1/2 cup of hot sauce
  • 1 cup of sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
Whisk the butter and hot sauce first than add the chili sauce and soy sauce in a bowl. Serve with the wings.

For the Rice
  • Bowl of steamed white rice ( your desired serving)
  • 4 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 table spoons of fish sauce
  • 4 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 2 table spoons of ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup of chopped white onion
  • bag of mixed veggies ( your choice; I used cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and peas)
Heat the frying pan a little over med, add rice and mix in oil. Add ground pepper and garlic powder then mix. Add the soy sauce and fish sauce until all rice is a light brown color. add onions and veggies. After mixing everything heat for 5 min on low to soften the veggies.

Let me know how yours turns out!

The Big Day! Leilani turns 1!

My mind was racing the night before and the day of. I had some wonderful ladies that help me prepare until 2am! I started back up seven that morning. Leilani was all smiles until we got to the party, she was so cranky and tired. She slept through half of the party.

I love this pictures it reminds me of a princess's table. All the little party hats were handmade and so much fun to make. Alot of glue gun burns hehe.

Sweets, Sweets and More Sweets!
I wanted the themed food to remind me of Lani; sugar, spice and everything nice OH! and how could I forget TuTu's. I did a sweets bar not a candy bar being that candy cost so much in bulk. I made some of the sweets; the chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate dipped marshmellows and rice krispie lollipops dipped in chocolate. The hardest thing to make were the pretzels because the pearls would slide of. I tried to find candy to match our color scheme which was'nt easy.Target had a little candy shop ailes and that's were I bought all the candy. I wanted to make presentable yummy food that everyone could grab and mingle, we had cheesburger sliders, baked hot wings, pigs in a blanket and pizza cresent pockets (I recommend them on any day) . The most popular thing at the party was the fondue table. I don't thing we had any strawberries left :D
The "TUTU" fabulous Sweets Table

As you can see it was very hard trying to keep this skirt up. I never realized tulle could be so heavy! It took about 8 - 10hrs to make the skirt and 200 yds later my dream TuTu. It could wrap around Lani and I about two times!

Fushia, Teal, Kiwi Green and Purple

I had sooo much fun making the paper poms. I loved them so much that I tried incorporating them in any way I could. I got the courset tutu cake from super target, a lady who makes all our cakes named michelle did it.

Bubbles, Bubbles and More Bubbles

The kids really enjoyed this bubble machine. I got it from Walmart for only $6 and the big bottle of bubble soap was 75 cents. Totally worth it.

Catch My Party

Me and the reason for this blog!

I'm just the Mommy, and this little gorgeous little baby is Leilani Rose. She just turned the big ONE January 25, 2011! She keeps me on my toes. I decided to make this blog after planning her first birthday. I had so much fun making all the little favors and coming up with the decorating ideas. Many of my family and friends ask how I made some of the things, including some of  my delicious dishes. So why not blog about it? I also wanted to keep an online journal of all the wonderful things Leilani does and share it with other young mothers. This also helps me clear my head!

Meet Leilani Rose

Her name is Leilani Rose Gutierrez-Howe. I know, I know its long but I think it is BEAUTIFUL.
she is repeating everything people say and is fluent in DADA, Bird, Ginger, ball, thank you, and Rachel ( her aunt). Nope, not in MAMA. I think she is teasing me.
She just learned how to walk a few steps. Even though she has been dancing on her two feet for about a month before. I can say she did learn how to dance before she could walk.
Her favorite thing to do besides give her mama kisses are DANCING and EATING, EVERYTHING.
She was born in Fredericksburg, VA at Mary Washington Hosptial after 37 hrs of labor. She had soo many loved ones waiting for her, She knew that.

SHE IS AWESOME!
